Boats are considered money pits because of the never ending costs associated with enjoying them. If you think about it, they cost money to buy, run, store, repair and clean.
On top of that, you can always upgrade almost everything on a boat to enjoy it even more. Over time, it ends up costing a lot of money.
We have spent thousands on making multiple versions of our boat, and wouldn’t change it for the world!

We don’t think so. The amount of time and enjoyment that we get out of our boat far outweighs the cost. Plus we are trying to clean up the water, which is really enjoyable. Most boaters dump gas and oil into the environment, but we use solar power and actually go on trash collecting missions.
The meaning of “a boat is just a money pit” is boats take a lot of money to run, and the money just goes into an endless pit, never to be seen again. We’re actually trying to generate money from our boating adventures though. We figure that we’re two good guys who are trying to do the right thing, and have fun doing it.
